25th November 2006 - Anderson Secondary School's Open House cum CarnivalHad guides duty, so woke up at 6.50am. Checked my phone and saw this message: hey pls come school by 7.30 to help out pls thanks spread the newsI didn't know who sent me this message, and thought that it was guides-related, so I quickly changed and grabbed my breakfast and rushed to school. When I reached school, I couldn't see anybody at the car porch, so I walked around the canteen searching for our class' booth...Later did I realize that that message was meant for me to reach school at 7.30am to help out at our own booth. Ah!! So, just stood around the booth, and guess what?! Jun Yao's 'buzzer game' was so simple! Just one straight metal rod without any curves or whatsoever..and we sold friendship bands as well..Then Ying Chyi and Bao Yi arrived before 8am. As she didn't had her breakfast yet, we accompanied her opposite to buy breakfast. Bought a Hi5 coffee bread..Hi5??!! Lol :PThen we returned to our booth..stood her and there, then we saw Mr Neo, so we walked to him. He's so funny..when he saw us guides, he went up to the GO or staff room before coming to see us..sian diao -.-Later, he gave us a short tour around the school and told us how we should tell the parents and p6 about the school and so on..and we have to SMILE always :DAt first, there were only a few people coming and we were like 'who wants to give them a tour??'..pushing the job around. But later on when more people came in, everybody had their own 'tour group' and were busy showing them the school blah blah blah..The first 'tour group' I took consist of 3 people - a father, a mother and their son. This was my first and longest tour around the school. The father, especially, asked quite a lot about the school and was like so curious about everything..well, we can't blame them coz they are so anxious about their kids. Well, for me, I didn't visit any school's open house..didn't even know when their open house was..ha :)Ok, back to that family..Went to the AVT, looked at it for a moment then asked a few questions like how often do you use this room and what do you use this room for...Next, we went to the music room, and they asked the same questions. Then we proceeded to the cookery room. Many pupils were like do guys have to take cooking lessons?? They looked sorta' bored when I told them 'yes'..you know guys don't like cooking..but most of the famous chefs around the world are males! There's this student activity room, which I don't know what it's for..then the cultural corner or room for pupils to rest and study. Next was the library..a guy explained to them about our school's library..ahh..I don't have to tell them about the library..anyway, there's nothing for me to say about the library..Next up was the Inspire Town, cybernetics room, then the Research labs..at the Inspire Town and lab, there were sec 4s there to explain about the room, so I could rest a bit. :))Then we went down to the hall, multi-purpose studio, d&t rooms and the courts..lalala..We walked around, then the wife and the kid went to the hall to listen to the principal's talk at 10am. As there was still time, the father went down to the canteen to buy some drinks. He's so kind to treat me a can of coke..and a pack of cookies which he bought earlier(thanks though)..yeah..then he went up to join his family..Went back to the guides 'table' or whatever you call it..let Ying Chyi drink the coke while I went to usher a parent to the hall. When I came back down, she told me to drink it quick for dunno what reason..but I gotta know it later, when Yi Teng told me to go to Guides Den and drink it there in 10 counts?! There's more than half left in the can, so I couldn't finish it and left it in the den..with the cookies as well..duh!Went back to the station..ushered parents to the hall for the talk when it was already 10.20am..But after that, as it was too late for them to listen to the talk, we gave them the tour around school.. I didn't give many tours..just about 3?? but a few to the hall haha :))Then there was this mother who was so..anxious about his son I think..She was like asking questions that the principal should answer like how is my son going to be in school..will the classes be like, the good ones with the good ones while the not so good ones in another class.. I mean, she's so bothered about the marks..what's important is that her son will make the effort to study while in secondary school ain't it? While nearing the end of the tour, she asked where the toilet was. Told her it was downstairs, and she later asked me if the toilet was smelly.. Her question is very 'diao' right? Who in the world would ask if the toilet is smelly?! Omg! She's just being too clean! There's still some time before the end of the open house, so we're still giving tours to parents..My legs were aching a lot when the open house ended..Finally, the open house has ended. I feel so happy!!But the sad thing is that the carnival has also ended..we didn't get the chance to visit the stalls... sad :( Wonder how our class' booth was??
