Ok, it's the 18th of December and we had an 'amazing race cum treasure hunt' with Catholic High School scouts. Early in the morning at 7.30am, we guides had to meet outside Bishan MRT station. While waiting, the security came and told us to move away as we're blocking the entrance..but the entrance is so big, how can we block the whole entrance??
When everybody's present, we walked to Catholic High School.. We went the wrong direction at first, until Jie Ling told Zhi Ling that we're walking in the wrong direction..We're walking towards RI instead of Cat High..lols :)
I don't know what time we reached there coz I don't have a watch..anyway, when we reached the school, we couldn't find any scouts.. Then the guard directed us to the canteen..
We gathered at the space next to the canteen and waited for them to appear. It seemed like ages before they came..then during that waiting time, we discussed about the CCA open house. My patrol is in-charge of the Display..haiz.. Sharanya is not here and we don't know what to talk about..
Wah!! We have to do so many posters.. It will be tiring man! And it's to be done on vanguard sheet!
Then Zhi Yan became 'hot-headed' all of a sudden.. Our cheer was not loud enough, we're quite sleepy then so we did not have enough energy to reply her lols, and we were punished! We had to run up and down the stairs thrice! And at the end of the 'run', my legs had gone wobbly.. Too long never do exercise..haha.. was rotting at home.. =D
When the scouts finally 'arrive'(they were already in school, but somewhere else..), we got into patrols for the race. Every patrol consists of 10 people. As patrol 'Swallow' has only 3 people, a few other people from other patrols were to join. And I joined! Now, my patrol has: Me, Jing Qiu, Jia Hui, Lisa, Zi Ying, Lu Peng, the Indian girl whose name I don't know how to spell, Zhi Wei, Louise and Sengyu. =))
When we were in our patrols, we were told to get to the field, and play the 'ice-breaker'. Our ice-breaker game was really cold! Lol! We just briefly, very briefly, introduced our names and that's all. Then Yi Teng said we're too quiet and then some guy suggested to play the name game.. You have to think of an adjective that has the same first letter as your name, say it out so that everybody can hear, then the next person has to say your name and his/ her name as well. Then this continues until the last person. The first person will have to repeat everybody's name, including his/hers. This game was really very cold! After that, we were told to gather back and the leaders briefed us on the rules and regulations and etc. Then each patrol will have 2 to 3 instructors to guide, or should I say keep watch over us to see if we broke any rules. We've got Yi Teng and Gary..
Finally the race started! We had to get to Bugis to check all our clues and so..So when we reached Bugis, Yi Teng gave us our routes and staff - list of the treasure hunt items we're supposed to find. At Bugis, we've got the Fu Lu Shou complex to visit. We had to find out how high the building is. We spent quite a long time there! We didn't know whether we're supposed to find the number of storeys or metres high..and our estimated answer was +/- 20m! I think we got that wrong..??
Along the way, we collected flyers as the treasure hunt list stated that we collect 25 different flyers from different shops. And we took quite a long time to figure out where we should go next.
So the next place we went to was City Hall. First we went up to Raffles City, found Billabong and asked the counter for the price and serial number of the purple swimwear. Omg! That swimwear costs $59.90?!! Pay so much money just for such a small piece of clothing!
Then we tried to find the 120 bronze cast plagues.. This was the worst part maybe. We went to Esplanade as we thought it was somewhere there. Then the instructors told us that we hadn't walked past there so we went back to City Link and finally found the plagues. I thought they were big and bulky, but it turned out to be quite small and are hung up on the wall! And I walked past this thing for don't know how many times and yet I don't know it's a bronze cast plague?! Omg! I really suck at observing my surroundings!!
And guess what? We've spent 2 ½ hours searching for only three things?! Oh god! There's one more item in City Hall called the Civil Defence Gallery but we dunno where it is so we decided to skip this. Then we took the MRT to Orchard. It was raining when we came out of the MRT station. We had to find the Gasi travel agency in the Mandarin Gallery and copy out its logo. We did not think of it as a shopping place in a hotel and until one guy telephoned someone did we find the place. During that time, we went to Wisma Atria/Ngee Ann Shopping mall. We went to the library to get 5 receipts and visited the Art-friend shop to get the items needed for treasure hunt. We've got quite a lot of stuff there. There's the Xmas bell, tree, candycane and stars and we spent a total of $8 there. That Gasi travel agency was so far inside the shopping area..we had to walk so far to get there and it's like wasting our time. When we came to the open again, the rain had stopped! Yay!
Then we walked to Somerset MRT station, took the train to Dhoby Ghaut station, which was just a stop away, and walked to Cineleisure cineplex. I thought it was the Cathay shopping centre where you can play bowling, watch movies and stuff like that..
We're to find out the colour of the Christmas tree there..and you know what? The tree is pink! A PINK christmas tree?? Well, it looked like candy floss..
Then we went to SMU to look for the business course thing.. I can tell you we've had a tough time there. I really hate going to SMU!! It's just like a maze, and in the end, you still can't find the things you wanted. Like the previous time when we came to SMU to search for the artwork, we also couldn't find it until we took the bus did we see that it's somewhere between 2 buildings.. Well, we didn't find that signpost or whatever and gave that up.. Wth! We spent about half an hour searching for that and we still couldn't find anything?! I give up! Then we walked to the art museum. We took down the dates and time of free admission. Then we walked to the church which was something related to Cat High School..Check out who funded the church and so on.. Then we realized that we forgot to do something at the art museum. We returned to the art museum and found the tablet thing.. As we're running out of time(it's 2pm then and we had to get to vivocity at 2.30pm), we had to skip all other places and go to vivocity directly.
Well, we were late! We thought we'd be the last one but it turned out we're not! We're the second to arrive there..but as we're late, we had to do forfeit! We handed up the items for the treasure hunt and chose a forfeit to be done - someone pretend to be a shark, then the rest had to shout 'Shark!' and run around and we had to attract attention! I was laughing all the while..it's just too funny =D The guys pretended to be the sharks while we girls will be shouting for help.. We had quite a few NGs.. lols :))
Then we returned to the empty space in the shopping mall. The people in-charge had calculated our scores and it's time to bid for food! My patrol had got 455points! *cheers! :)* We bid a total of four prizes - mentos, oreo, jelly and twisties! And we still had 165 points left..
So after that, the event offically ended! Great, now we can go home!! But before we went home, we had to do a cheer.. Fancy shouting loudly in a shopping center..attracting attention.
Then Lisa, Jing Qiu, Jia Hui, Lu Peng, Zi Ying and I went to have our lunch at Kopitiam. We're having lunch at 4pm?? After that, we returned home. Took the train all the way from HarbourFront to Ang Mo Kio..then I got home at 5.30pm.. Legs are feeling very sore then..
I'm looking forward to 7pm as it's the last episode of the show..it's nice..coz Bosco Wong's acting.. hee :)
